Hopes my house by the sea isn’t swallowed by it

Oh, Igor. Hurricane watch. I hope my family and house in Upper Amherst Cove keep safe. States of Emergency called all over the province, including Bonavista (163mm of rain at this point). Over 200mm of rain in some places already, and it’s forecasted to only get worse. Keeping the radio on all day and phone on me. The road gave away under my aunts car as she drove in Stock Cove today, my parents and sister are literally trapped in UAC (not a bad place to be stuck, but still!). Communities flooded, cbc radio news taken over with reports. Let’s stay cozy and safe, folks. The power is flicking here in St. John’s, too. I’m gonna bake some squash and maybe cookies, have some food prepared in case we lose power. If anyone wants some hot tea or espresso, come over and cuddle our ten million cats. I have a couchsurfer trying to travel here today, so I hope that her and all other commuters take it easy. Stay home if you need to! early in the Igor storm: UAC. Hope it doesn’t get much worse.

And, on a hilarious note, thanks to R. Lambert!
