I’m packing it all up again. Gutting out the place, and will be moving away from the lovely 55th. But first- I’m headed to find stories and explore rich soil and culture in PERU! Leaving in a couple of hours to fly to Lima, stay there for a few nights, then go to Cuzco, explore that city and then hike and camp in the Andes, leaving from Lares and ending in Machu Picchu. Send me your address if you want postcards. My backpack is full of camping gear and base layers, and treats for friends I haven’t met yet. I’m excited. I’m tired already and ready to go! Much love to you all, and I hope to send you more tales soon!

YAY PERU!!!! How random! 🙂

Shannon, I fixed my bike, got running shoes, danced my body sore, flirted with/smiled/hugged/laughed with friends, drank beer and coffee, cried with strangers, talked about your pick up attempts and silliness, and sent love to many more- obviously thinking of you.

It all keeps moving, and you never wasted a second. Much love, Mr. Big! You are very missed, and to the surprise of none, you’re still charming us all. xo…

He’s just awesome.

“I’ll pick you up, no problem! It’s fixed! When do you get in? Perfect. I’ll be there early…”

Too many hundreds of credit card dollaz and an apparently unnecessary new battery equals mechanic f’ing me over and the majestic cav broke down again HOURS LATER. Thank you cheerful mechanic tow man all the same for your late-night rescue. Cav, hang in there. We gots places to go. (p.s I need to get my bike fixed up/need a bike that has gears and that can transport me in the rain). On the plus side, I put on halloween costumes at MC today for a news clip. Did ya see me on tv, nan?!!

Oh, did you also know that if you’re in paid parking, you have to pay for the tow truck’s charge too? Sneaky.

Writing, prepping for a baby shower (with another diy gift in the making for mr. budgell’s arrival), and I have been self-assured that UAC is safe and sound after spending time there with the gang. St. John’s has given me ten million awesome couchsurfers, cooked local veggie feasts, yard sales, evenings of baking sweets for the nephew and missing the niece (the rest of the gang too), new jobs and realizations in many shapes and sizes (fiy all elementary students will have ease learning their spelling words if you add them to sentences that have naughty words in there to learn too. Poop is a wonderful example. Also, there are more times than not that you should turn off your cell phone and be unreachable. p.p.s pease pudding should be gettin more street cred as being WICKED! Frig off, hummus. . . I’m sorry, I don’t mean that!)

Hopes my house by the sea isn’t swallowed by it

Oh, Igor. Hurricane watch. I hope my family and house in Upper Amherst Cove keep safe. States of Emergency called all over the province, including Bonavista (163mm of rain at this point). Over 200mm of rain in some places already, and it’s forecasted to only get worse. Keeping the radio on all day and phone on me. The road gave away under my aunts car as she drove in Stock Cove today, my parents and sister are literally trapped in UAC (not a bad place to be stuck, but still!). Communities flooded, cbc radio news taken over with reports. Let’s stay cozy and safe, folks. The power is flicking here in St. John’s, too. I’m gonna bake some squash and maybe cookies, have some food prepared in case we lose power. If anyone wants some hot tea or espresso, come over and cuddle our ten million cats. I have a couchsurfer trying to travel here today, so I hope that her and all other commuters take it easy. Stay home if you need to! For tropical storm/hurricane updates and warnings check out CBC NL Storm Centre

early in the Igor storm: UAC. Hope it doesn’t get much worse.

And, on a hilarious note, thanks to R. Lambert!

couchsurfing in St. Pierre couldn’t have worked out better! Look at our fun host! Lovely new friend to say the least.
Exploring on foot for hours, hot sun, good food, wine and company. Back in town, cuddlin with cats, meeting up with old friends or seeing sketchy ones, but it’s still summer here!
